CT Brain Angio

Program Information

Computed Tomography, sometimes known as CT, is an advanced radiographic procedure utilizing x-rays and computers to display the human body in three dimensions.

Under supervision of the Radiologist, the CT technologist provides detailed cross-sectional images of the human body. It is important the technologist have a thorough knowledge of human anatomy, basic pathology, and of the equipment. In addition, the technologist must be able to work independently as he or she will be making decisions about how best to perform a procedure with regard to patient care, safety, and radiation protection.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for Radiologic Technologists, “… is projected to grow faster than average. Those with knowledge of more than one diagnostic imaging procedure – such as CT, MR, and mammography – will have the best employment opportunities.” Source – Bureau of Labor Statistics, http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos105.htm#related

In many cases, it is required that Radiologic Technologists be licensed or certified in any modality where they may be performing procedures. Our CT program is designed for the ARRT- or NMTCB-registered technologist who has primary certification in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine Technology.

This course provides the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered technologist with a cognitive base of entry-level education in the practice of computed tomography. Educational categories will include Patient Care, Imaging Procedures, and Physics and Instrumentation. This course is suitable for ARRT-registered technologists who have primary certification in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy .

Note: This course does NOT include a clinical component. The technologist must complete the Computed Tomography Clinical Experience Requirements in order to be eligible for the ARRT post-primary examination in Computed Tomography.

Approved for Category “A” Credit:

This activity is approved for credit by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) for 131 CE Category “A” Credits and will meet the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) criteria for Category “A” continuing education credit.
